Colossians 3:23-24 NIV
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human
masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is
the Lord Christ you are serving.
- Remember “Whatever you do” matters.
- Give it all you got!
Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the
breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.
“God is a worker, and since we are created in the image of God, we too are intrinsically
workers. Work is not our identity, that rests in the imago Dei. Our work flows from our identity
as representatives of God.” - Bob Robinson, Re-Integrate
Genesis 2:15 (NIV) The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it
and take care of it.
- Recognize who you are really working for.
“Secular work becomes spiritual when the worker is doing it as unto the Lord and not to
please or impress people. The difference is not determined by the environment or the
activity, but by the inward desire of the heart. God is far more concerned with the
direction and focus of our hearts than with what we do with our hands; for if our heart is
right, our hand will follow.” - Kenneth Boa and Gail Burnet, Wisdom at Work
- Keep an eternal perspective.
“Most of what Jesus did on earth in His 33 years He didn't get credit for and we don't even
know about, but His Father knew. His work was to do the will of the Father. He worked His way
down from Heaven to Earth, to Jerusalem, to be sinless and faithful, to the Cross, to the depths
of Earth, to take away our sin, guilt, and shame, to liberate everyone from it. Jesus knew all
about work!” – Louie Giglio
